Classes for Everyone
Santa Maria Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu offers a range of classes- from the beginner to the advanced martial artist. We pride ourselves not only on having a family-owned school that is clean and friendly but a place that is safe for everyone in the family to train, learn, and grow to become better.
We offer a mix of traditional to more modern based styles: Judo, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Kids Anti-Bullying, and an MMA-based Fitness class. We have Santa Maria’s, first women’s-only Brazilian Jiu Jitsu program!
All of these programs are conducted within our 4000 sq.ft. facility in Santa Maria. Our training space has 2000 sqft of mats, an outside training area, a seating area, lockers, male and female restrooms, and a changing room.
OUR PROGRAMS
BRAZILIAN JIU JITSU
Brazilian jiu-jitsu is a martial art and combat sport system that focuses on grappling and especially ground fighting. Brazilian jiu-jitsu was formed from Kodokan Judo ground fighting fundamentals that were taught by a number of individuals including Takeo Yano, Mitsuyo Maeda and Soshihiro Satake.
JUDO
Judo is a sport of unarmed combat derived from jujitsu, which focuses on throws and grappling techniques. Judo was designed to prepare the body and mind in two very important ways: to perfect technique and to help develop character traits such as respect and humility. Judo training is also excellent exercise, because it requires strength, agility, aerobic fitness, balance and flexibility.
KIDS BJJ
There is no better way to learn self-defense than Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. Our Children’s Program teaches invaluable life skills such as self-discipline, self-confidence, self-control, and self-defense. Almost all of our adult students have been quoted saying “Wow! I really wish I started training in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu when I was younger”. We believe in function over flash, and we teach a system that has proven itself functionally effective across the martial arts disciplines in both competition and self-defense scenarios.
SELF DEFENSE
A set of awareness, assertiveness, verbal confrontation skills, safety strategies, and physical techniques that enable someone to successfully escape, resist, and survive violent attacks. A good self-defense course provides psychological awareness and verbal skills, not just physical training.
